About the programme

Swayampurna Goa – Vocal for Local Programme

The Swayampurna Goa – Vocal for Local Programme is an initiative of the Directorate of Agriculture, aimed at advancing the vision and objectives of the Goa State Amrit Kaal Agriculture Policy. The programme promotes indigenous produce, strengthens market opportunities, and supports sustainable livelihoods for farmers and agri‑entrepreneurs across the state.

Programme milestones

Events held under Swayampurna Goa

1. Launch Ceremony of “Swayampurna Goa – Vocal for Local Programme”

14 Aug 2026

The Swayampurna Goa – Vocal for Local Programme (SG‑VLP) was formally launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, marking a focused Government effort to strengthen local production, value addition, market access and agri‑entrepreneurship across Goa.

Led by the Directorate of Agriculture, with ASSOCHAM as the Industry Partner and EY as the Technical & Knowledge Partner, the programme brings together Government departments, farmers, FPOs, SHGs, entrepreneurs, technical institutions and markets under a time‑bound 90–150 day action framework.

2. CoE Indo–Israel Vegetable & Flower Seedling Distribution Programme

17 Aug 2026

As an early action under SG‑VLP, this programme — graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant — translated the Vocal for Local vision into direct farmer‑level intervention at the Old GMC Press Room, ESG, Goa.

High‑quality vegetable and marigold seedlings were distributed to farmers to promote scientific cultivation, quality planting material, improved productivity and demand‑oriented production.

By linking technology, quality inputs, local cultivation and market opportunities, the programme seeks to increase the availability of locally grown vegetables and flowers, reduce dependence on outside supply wherever feasible, strengthen farmer‑market linkages and improve livelihood opportunities — demonstrating how targeted Government support can convert local production potential into visible economic outcomes.
